A study of emotional intelligence in an Egyptian sample of offspring of patients with schizophrenia

Abstract Background Emotional intelligence is usually a construct measured in healthy children, now it may be used for relatives of schizophrenia, and considered as trait marker schizophrenia. Offspring parents with schizophrenia are children high familial risk major mental disorder. The aim the study to assess emotional group off springs parent compare them control subjects, find possible relation between offspring profile symptoms schizophrenic parents. Results had lower scores intelligences than their matched controls emotion perception, self-esteem, low impulsivity regulation’s subsets TEIQue-CF. There was correlation parent’s duration illness. no found severity offspring’s intelligence. Conclusions impaired some its facets when compared normal subjects.
